Hacktivist group

1877 Team

1877 Team emerged publicly in 2021 as a Kurdish-origin hacktivist collective whose activity blended politically framed operations with cybercriminal commerce. Independent technical reporting documented a progression from game modifications and public-facing defacement activity into vulnerability scanning, administrator-credential brute forcing, DDoS, data exposure, trading of compromised infrastructure and credentials, sale or distribution of offensive tooling, and maintenance of an underground-service ecosystem. The historical cluster was associated most consistently with the personas Overthinker1877 and CodeBoy1877.

The legacy group showed an unusually hybrid profile. Its public messaging included Kurdish nationalist themes and shifting geopolitical positions, while its commercial activity included compromised accounts, stolen payment-card material, cPanel and WordPress administrator credentials, exploits, web shells, bypass tooling, and modified malware. Technical research in 2023 also linked exposed 1877 infrastructure to RedLine Stealer, RemCos RAT and ClipBanker samples that communicated with two identified C2 IP addresses and two dynamic-DNS domains.

The principal analytical complication in 2026 is identity continuity. A Telegram channel at @[redacted] currently presents itself as “1877 Team,” uses the slogan “Legends Never Die!,” links to 1877.to, and links another handle, @[redacted]. Publicly accessible defaced pages observed in 2026 carry the same branding, 1877.TO, @[redacted], #1877Team, and the “LEGENDS NEVER DIE” slogan. Meanwhile, 1877.to displays “Team (Amerr)(Overthinker1877),” but 1877.team publishes a conflicting statement asserting that the original project was archived in 2022 and that current channels and domains using the name are impersonators.

INFERENCE (confidence: high): The 2026 @[redacted] ecosystem is an active claimant to the 1877 Team brand and is operationally linked to at least some contemporary website-defacement artifacts. This establishes current brand use, but not lineage to the original group.

INFERENCE (confidence: medium): Current use of the historical 1877.to domain name, references to Overthinker1877, and reuse of 1877 branding create a plausible continuity hypothesis, but domain/name reuse is insufficient to identify the current operators. Until stronger account, infrastructure, cryptographic, archival, or operator-level continuity evidence is recovered, the 2026 entity should be treated as a distinct claimant layer within the canonical 1877 Team profile.
