Ayyıldız Tim is widely described as a Turkish nationalist hacktivist collective active since the early 2000s. Public reporting and threat-intelligence profiling consistently characterize its core activity as opportunistic and politically motivated operations—most commonly website defacements, distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) activity, and social-media account takeovers used for propaganda. The actor is sometimes referenced under vendor taxonomies (for example, CrowdStrike’s “Thunderbolt Jackal”), but the most common public label remains Ayyıldız Tim.
