Hacktivist group

Unknown Cyber Cult

Unknown Cyber Cult, commonly abbreviated Team UCC or Team UCC Operations, is a pro-India hacktivist collective with a multi-year public footprint. The identity appears in 2023 pro-Israel hacktivist reporting, in 2024 operations against Bangladesh, and in 2025 India-Pakistan conflict activity. AhnLab characterizes the group as believed to be India-based, pro-India and anti-Pakistan, while ETH Zürich independently identifies it as pro-Indian and cites prior attribution to India by CYFIRMA.

The group's strongest technical profile is broader than DDoS-only hacktivism. AhnLab documents system intrusion, theft and leakage of databases/internal documents, website defacement, administrator-panel infiltration, and data deletion/destruction. Major 2025 cases in that reporting include compromises of private companies and Pakistan's Logistics Management System, a May 14 defacement of a government girls' degree college website, and publication of stolen database material. The report also describes the group combining the widely circulated 16-billion-password compilation with propaganda, which should not be misread as proof that Team UCC originally stole that entire corpus.

The group's ideological posture evolved with regional and global geopolitical events. During the 2023 Israel-Hamas war, public reporting placed Team UCC among pro-Israel groups and documented claims against Palestinian government websites. In July 2024, ETH Zürich records Team UCC taking down the Bangladesh Meteorological Department website during a larger DDoS campaign. During the 2025 India-Pakistan crisis, the group resurfaced after a claimed shutdown and again targeted Pakistani systems.

Key judgment — high confidence: Team UCC is best modeled as an India-aligned, event-responsive hacktivist actor whose operating repertoire includes both availability attacks and unauthorized system compromise with integrity/confidentiality/destructive consequences.
